How Octopus Plan Compare works
The tool reruns one selected period of real electricity usage against several Octopus tariffs. Every interval is priced at the rate valid at that moment, then standing charges are added across the same date range.
What the replay includes
- Your actual tariff history over the chosen period.
- Agile Octopus, Octopus Go, and Flexible Octopus for your region.
- Half-hourly unit rates matched to exact UTC timestamps.
- Standing charges applied across the same replay window.
Why matched coverage matters
A tariff should not win because it is missing intervals the others can price. Rankings therefore use only the half-hour periods and standing-charge days that every tariff can cover.

Current limitations
- Import electricity only. Gas and export are not included.
- Single-register tariffs only. Complex tariff shapes are rejected.
- Results are replay estimates, not full invoice reconciliation.
